Groton Drinking Water Regulations Being Reviewed

A consulting firm is working on revisions with town officials, expected to be presented later in the year.

GROTON, CT --- A comprehensive overhaul of the city’s drinking water regulations is underway, as reported by The Day.

This is the first time an overhaul of this nature has taken place, according to The Day. The Horsley Witten Group consulting firm is working with town officials on the revisions, and will present them to both the Zoning Commission and at a public hearing later in the year.

The current Water Resources Protection District covers about 7,700 acres mostly in the northern half of town, according to The Day. About 70 percent of that land is in open water, forest and wetlands.
