GROTON, CT—Won't bury the lead: it was The Grapevine in Groton.

John Arasimowicz bought the $100,000 CASHWORD 9 scratch-off lottery ticket Sept. 19 at the package store. He scratched. And when he thought he'd won $1,000, well, it was his lucky day. But alas, he was not a $1,000 winner.

The Ct Lottery quoted Arasimowicz: "I thought I won $1,000,but then the retailer scanned the ticket and said, 'You won $100,000!'"
