Groton Police To Discuss New School Safety Approach At Meeting

Groton police will discuss their new approach to school safety during a community conversation on the subject.

GROTON, CT — Groton police will discuss their new approach to school safety during a community conversation on the subject Thursday, according to the New London Day. The meeting will take place at Robert E. Fitch High School at 6 p.m.

The policy, entitled "Every School, Every Day," directs officers to visit schools in their patrol area every day school is in session, as well as during after school activities, according to the department's Facebook page.

Police said these visits will be random and unannounced, during which officers will be encouraged to "engage with students, faculty and parents to demonstrate a positive police presence and enhance the feeling of safety for all."
