Guilford BOE Looking Into Later Start Time for High School Students
The board is considering the change so that students are better rested when they come to school.

The Guilford Board of Education is considering a later start time for high school students, the New Haven Register reports.
The change is one of the board’s priorities as they begin budgeting for the 2015-16 school year. The district is considering the change due to the medical and educational benefits that teens would get from getting an extra hour of sleep.
According to the paper, high school students in Guilford have to wake up as early as 5:30 a.m. to catch the buses, which begin running between 6:30 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. and arrive at school by 7:10 a.m.
