Guilford Residents Win State Debate Championship

Ariel Mayer and Marlah Hohlfelder, our 2016 Middle School State Policy Debate Champions

Guilford residents Marlah Hohlfelder and Ariel Mayer from Westfield Academy of West Hartford, went undefeated to clench the 2016 State Middle School Policy Debate Competition! Over the course of two days they reached the Final round undefeated 4-0 by flipside debating Resolved: The minimum age for social media use should be changed from from 13 to 10 years old. Challenged by Western Middle School of Greenwich in the Final round for the championship title Ariel and Marlah battled hard for the Affirmative and took home the win. Congratulations girls! The event was organized by Civics First and hosted at the CT Bar Association in New Britain on May 18, 2016.
