Guilford Schools Chief Receives Contract Extension, Pay Raise

GUILFORD - Superintendent of Schools Paul Freeman had his contract extended through June 30th, 2020 by a unanimous vote of the Board of Education Monday night.

He also received a 2.25 percent pay increase – and his pay will be $222,515 for the coming school year.

Board of Education Chairman William Bloss said Tuesday that the contract calls for adjustments to Freeman’s salary based on performance – ranging from 0 to 6 percent.

“Board members were uniformly very positive about Dr. Freeman’s work, notably his collaborative leadership style, his commitment to innovation and curriculum improvement, and his accepting positions in state and national groups advocating for improvements in public education,” Bloss said.

“Guilford’s schools are in great shape, and while that is due to the work of every administrator, faculty member, and staff member, Dr. Freeman’s leadership ahs been a leading factor in our high levels of achievement,” Bloss added.

Freeman began working as Guilford school superintendent in 2011.
