Emergency Center is in full operation now. It has been a long night for our personnel and they continue to assess and repair many critical situations.

Please stay out of shoreline areas to continue to let power and emergency responders assess the situation! There are still sections of the community that we cannot access yet. There are many trees and power lines down. DO NOT TOUCH THEM OR DRIVE OVER THEM.
Community Center:
The Community Center is OPEN.
For those needing it, breakfast, lunch and dinner is being provided.
Charging stations are available for electronic devices.
A limited number of shower facilities are available.
Emergency Overnight facilities are available.
If you plan to stay overnight (or evacuate for a longer period);
- Bring toiletries and medications enough for 3 to 5 days
- Linens,
- Hand written phone numbers of family and friends
- If you bring Animals, they must be in crates. Bring food and medications for animals enough for 3 to 5 days.
Power Service(s):
Progress is being made concerning the restoration of electrical power. As of this morning, these areas have been restored; Yale New Haven Medical Center, Rt 1 Big Y Shopping Center to Exit 59, parts of Soundview, Boston Street, and Water Street. More updates when available.
Water Availability:
Water is available to be picked up by residents, bring your own containers to;
Police Station (RT 77),
North Guilford Fire House
Community Center
Bishop’s Orchards
Guilford Lakes Golf Course
Waste Management:
The Town Transfer Station is OPEN today to handle spoiled food and other waste.
The Stump Dump is OPEN today for tree and limb debis.
FEES are being waved today.
Town Hall: Is OPEN. Call if you have any questions 203 453 8015. Power Stations are available to recharge cell phones. Wireless Internet is available as well.
Town Hall South and Youth and Family Services are OPEN as well
Guilford Public Schools:GPS will be closed again today (Wednesday). There is no power to many buildings. Additional information will be available through the school communication vehicles.
Halloween Celebration;
CANCELED for this evening. For the safety of our children and our families, we are recommending no “Trick or Treating” today. We will reschedule to a new date once power has been restored.
SAFETY REMINDER – GENERATOR Operation;
Please remember to only operate generators outdoors, well clear of enclosed spaces, including enclosed garages. A minimum of 20’ should be maintained from enclosed spaces so Carbon Monoxide gase don’t get trapped inside homes or businesses.
