NORTH GUILFORD NURSERY SCHOOL RECEIVES GRANT FROM GUILFORD FUND FOR EDUCATION TO BUILD INNOVATIVE 'IMAGINATION PLAYGROUND'

NGNS announces their addition of Imagination Playground. The project is supported by a grant from the Guilford Fund for Education.

GUILFORD (June 1, 2015) – North Guilford Nursery School (NGNS), one of the longest-standing nursery schools in the Guilford community, announces their addition of an innovative playground system called Imagination Playground. The project is supported by a grant from the Guilford Fund for Education.

The Imagination Playground – a free-play, loose-parts set -- supports early learners through active and creative play. The larger-than-life block system encourages the kind of free-form exploration that helps children develop cognitive, emotional, social and physical skills. Through interactions with the Imagination Playground – and their peers – students will learn teamwork, problem solving, creativity and complex thinking.

“This type of play is incredibly important for the children’s development,” said Mary Gannon, one of the lead teachers at North Guilford Nursery School who presented the grant. “The Imagination Playground and the lessons we are building around it will empower the children to build a world of their own…and a world of possibilities.”
