Roads Reopened In Guilford Following Snowstorm: UPDATE
A major winter storm hammered the region Sunday into Monday.
Update: The 100-block of Nortontown Road and the 200-block of Durham Road are back open, according to police.
GUILFORD, CT — A major snowstorm is still battering the region Monday morning, and several road closures are being reported in Guilford.
Guilford police are reporting a tree down across the road with wires in the 200-block of Durham Road. A tree is also down across the road with wires in the 100-block of Nortontown Road.

Interstate-95 Southbound between Exits 57 and 56 was previously closed due to a crash this morning but the highway has since reopened.
"The roads are extremely snow-covered and visibility is very low due to the high winds. If you don’t absolutely have to go out, please stay home to allow crews from DOT and DPW to clear the roads," Guilford police wrote in a Facebook post.

Nearly 1,000 Guilford residents are without power as of 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

Schools are closed in Guilford, as are town offices. A winter storm parking ban is in effect until 12 p.m. on Feb. 24.
Vehicles left parked in roadways during the ban are subject to tickets and tows at the owner's expense.
Gov. Ned Lamont announced Sunday that he signed an order declaring a state of emergency in Connecticut due to the storm. Residents are advised to stay off the roads.
Coastal sections of Connecticut could see total snow accumulations between 16 and 24 inches. Snow accumulations between 16 and 20 inches are possible for inland areas.
The snow should begin to ease up by Monday afternoon.
