2.3K Residents Remain Out Of Power In Hamden: UPDATE

The town-wide parking ban has been lifted and other updates on the town's response to the weekend storm.

HAMDEN, CT — About 2,300 residents remained out of power in Hamden as of 1 p.m. on Monday, according to officials. Hamden Public Works, Public Safety and Emergency Response Services continue to coordinate with United Illuminating “Make Safe” crews in an effort to make the roads safe, and work to resolve more than 200 incidents of downed trees, blocked roadways due to debris, downed and damaged power lines, debris cleanup, and power outages, Mayor Curt Balzano Leng said in an update on Monday afternoon. The town-wide Parking Ban has ended.

As of 1 p.m. on Monday, approximately 110+ power outage events continue to affect about 2,300 residents of 8.5 percent of the town. United Illuminating has crews working in Hamden, supported by hundreds of other employees working to restore power in surrounding towns. Hamden Public Works is assisting United Illuminating with multiple crews in the field, working to resolve downed trees, debris, and road blockages. Read more from the town’s latest update below:

Please use extreme caution around any trees outside and when driving, residents are advised to drive as safely as possible and allow crews to do their work. Multiple Roadways have experienced downed trees or wires, and some are impassable at this time

Hamden’s Emergency Operations Center remains open and active. The Hamden Fire and Police Departments are coordinating emergency response services. The Town is considering adding additional warming locations if a major shift in power outage resolutions is not realized. Please see below for a complete list of warming locations.

SHELTER IN PLACE TIPS:

"Shelter in Place" entails closing all household doors, windows and vents and taking shelter in a readily accessible location that allows individuals to take shelter in warm and comfortable locations during a Winter Weather emergency.

1. CHARGE ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES required for communication or entertainment.

2. BE PREPARED TO SHELTER IN PLACE. It is not advisable to try to drive or travel during a storm event. You should be prepared to shelter in place until the storm event subsides

3. BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR. If you have an elderly, disabled or infirm neighbor, please take a moment to check in on them and ensure that they are safe.
