HAMDEN, CT — Police responded to two armed robberies within 15 minutes Monday night in Hamden, according to police.

The first robbery was reported at 8:15 p.m. on Savoy Street and involved a gun being fired, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. The victim, a 22-year-old Hamden resident, was standing next to his newly purchased vehicle when he was approached by a man who demanded the keys to the car, Smith said.

The victim ran and the man fired a shot at him, according to Smith. No one was injured and the suspect possibly left the area in a stolen Hyundai Elantra, Smith said. Police believe the suspect or suspects drove to the area in the stolen vehicle; the victim’s new vehicle wasn’t stolen.
