2 Charged With Murdering Hamden Teen: Police
Police say a third arrest is expected soon in connection to the shooting death of an 18-year-old Hamden resident last year.
HAMDEN, CT — Two people have been charged with murder and police expect to make a third arrest soon in connection to the shooting death of an 18-year-old Hamden resident last year. On Nov. 13, 2017, Hamden Police responded to Dudley Street on the report of a shooting. Moments later, officers found Leeandre Benton, 18, of Hamden, near the Farmington Canal Trail. Benton had been shot multiple times and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead the next day, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said Det. Jomo Crawford conducted an extensive investigation that led to arrest warrants for Robert Moye and a 17-year-old New Haven resident.
Police arrested Moye and the now 18-year-old on July 10 and July 11 and a third arrest is expected soon, according to Smith.

Moye, 22, of Lander Street in New Haven, was charged with felony murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. The 18 year-old, a New Haven resident, was charged with felony murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. He was detained on a court-ordered $2.5 million bond. He was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on July 11.
