
James W. Gibson, 81, of Hamden passed away on September 5, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eunice, his children, Lynn (Richard) Kisner of Avon, Kathryn (Ted) Stevens of North Haven and James Gibson Jr (Patricia) of Plano Texas and his five grandchildren, Ted Jr. and Tara Stevens, Bryan Kisner, and James III and Natalie Gibson. He is also survived by his sisters Joyce Mullane of Orlando Florida and Monica Klansky of Rochester, New York. He was predeceased by his parents, James H. and Lillian Gibson and his brother Ronald Gibson.
A native of Bridgeport, Mr. Gibson was a graduate of Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University, where he was a member of the President's Circle He also received an MBA from the University of New Haven. Mr. Gibson retired from the Southern Connecticut Gas Company in 1992 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He was previously employed at U.S. Electric Motors in Milford and Sargent and Co. in New Haven. He was discharged from the U.S Army Reserve in 1965 with the rank of Captain. At his retirement, Mr. Gibson was honored with the establishment of the "James W. Gibson Outreach Program" at the Fairfield University School of Nursing, which brought health benefits to children in the Bridgeport area.

Following his retirement, Mr. Gibson was instrumental in the establishment of the Ascension Parish Meditation Walk, which incorporates the seven panels that formed the wall of the Vatican Exposition at the 1965 World's Fair. He was also a member of the Parish Financial Council. In addition, he and his wife enjoyed many trips to the Caribbean islands as well as various European destinations.
