Arrest Made In Bar Shooting: Hamden Police
Police say the accused shot another man several times outside a bar in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — A West Haven man has been charged with shooting another man several times outside of a bar in Hamden last month, according to police. At about 12:05 a.m. on March 13, Hamden Police responded to Charles and James Place, located at 1350 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of shots fired, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Moments later, officers located a 27-year-old gunshot victim walking in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Lexington Street. The victim was shot three times, twice in the shoulder and once in the leg, according to Smith. Hamden Fire Rescue rendered medical assistance on the victim, who was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Detective Joseph Liguori conducted an extensive investigation that led to the application of an arrest warrant for Darrell Mayes.

Mayes was arrested April 24 at his West Haven residence and taken to Hamden Police Headquarters.
Mayes, 29, of Coleman Street in West Haven, was charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. Mayes, a convicted felon, was detained on a $250,000 court-ordered bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 25, according to Smith.
