Boy, 12, Knocks Elderly Woman To Ground In Robbery Attempt: PD
Police say the boy attempted to steal the woman's pocketbook before leaving in a stolen car, which was driven by someone else, in Hamden.
HAMDEN, CT — An elderly woman was knocked to the ground by a 12-year-old boy in an attempted street robbery Monday night in Hamden, according to police.
Police responded to the Hamden Plaza, located at 2100 Dixwell Avenue, at about 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 and found that an elderly woman was walking to a nearby bus stop when she was approached by a boy, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the boy “knocked” the victim to the ground while attempting to steal her pocketbook. He then ran away when two bystanders attempted to assist the victim. The boy was last seen entering a stolen Subaru, which was driven by another person, according to Smith.

The suspect is described as a black male, 12 years old, short with a thin build.
