Boy, 7, Struck by Vehicle While Crossing Dixwell Avenue in Hamden
The boy was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 7-year-old boy was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Dixwell Avenue Thursday evening in Hamden, Police Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.
Hamden police responded to the Dixwell Avenue and Putnam Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 and investigation revealed that the 7-year-old boy was crossing Dixwell Avenue with his mother and 3-year-old niece, when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound.
Further investigation revealed that they did not utilize the crosswalk, according to Smith.

The boy sustained non-life threatening injuries to his head and back and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.
The vehicle was operated by a 48-year-old Guilford woman and no charges are expected to be filed against her, according to Smith.

Officer Gregg Curran of the Hamden Police Department Traffic Division conducted the investigation.
