Burglars Stole $1K Worth Of Cigarettes From Store: Hamden Police

Police say the suspects used bricks to smash the store's window and a bucket to carry out the stolen cigarettes.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating an overnight burglary in which two suspects stole $1,000 worth of cigarettes from Walgreens. At about 2 a.m. on Sept. 30, Hamden Police responded to Walgreens, located at 1697 Whitney Avenue, on the report of a burglary, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that the front window was “smashed” with two bricks. Two individuals subsequently entered the store and stole boxes of cigarettes, valued at $1,000. The individuals used a “bucket” to carry the stolen goods, Smith said.
