Burglary Suspect Swipes Wallet, Car Keys From YMCA Locker: Hamden Police
YMCA staff members saw the suspect illegally entering a member's vehicle in the parking lot, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man is accused of burglarizing a locker at the YMCA and stealing a member’s wallet and car keys, according to police.
At about 2:15 p.m. on March 31, Hamden Police responded to the YMCA, located at 1605 Sherman Avenue, on the report of a larceny from a motor vehicle, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that Ronald Coley had walked into the men’s locker room and entered an unlocked locker. He subsequently stole a member’s wallet and car keys, according to Smith.

YMCA staff members observed Coley illegally entering the member’s motor vehicle, Smith said.
Moments later, Officer Dennis Putnam located Coley and placed him under arrest.

Smith said the victim’s cellphone was located in close proximity of Coley.
Coley, 21, of Rock Creek Road in New Haven, was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass and sixth-degree larceny.
Coley, who was released after posting a $1,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 13.
