Car Burglary Suspect Arrested in Hamden: PD

The suspect was found to be in the possession of several items, including electronic equipment and credit cards, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A 20-year-old New Haven man has been charged in connection to a car burglary that occurred in Hamden over the summer, according to police.

On Aug. 25, during the early morning hours, Hamden Police responded to Duane Road on the report of suspicious activity. It was reported that several individuals were “rummaging” through motor vehicles, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Shortly thereafter, Sgt. David Ng observed Edward Hallett walking in a nearby neighborhood. Hallett was in the possession of several items, including electronic equipment and credit cards, according to Smith.

Police determined that the items were stolen from a motor vehicle on Newhall Street.

A warrant was submitted and approved for Hallett’s arrest.

Hallett, of Congress Avenue in New Haven, was arrested at Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 16. He was charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny.

Hallett, who was detained on a court-ordered $5,000 bond, was arraigned later in the day.
