
HAMDEN, CT — A 16-year-old New Haven resident was arrested early Sunday morning after police say he was caught driving a car that was stolen out of North Haven. At about 4 a.m. on Nov. 4, Hamden Police Officer Justin Thibault saw a motor vehicle traveling on Beacon Street “without headlights illuminated,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith. A motor vehicle stop was subsequently conducted on Leeder Hill Drive.
Hamden Police determined that the vehicle was stolen earlier in the morning from a North Haven residence. Police arrested the 16-year-old New Haven resident, who was uncooperative, Smith said. The juvenile, whose name wasn’t released due to his age, was charged with third-degree larceny, interfering with a police officer, operating without a license, disobeying an officer’s signal, improper turn and driving without headlights. The teen is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on Nov. 13.
