Citizens Police Academy Announced In Hamden
The Hamden Police Department announces the 10th session of its popular Citizen's Police Academy.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Police are accepting applications for the department’s 10th session of the Hamden Citizen’s Police Academy.
“The purpose of this endeavor is to provide local residents, local business/property owners and college students with pertinent information, as it relates to the function and activities of the Hamden Police Department,” Capt. Ronald Smith wrote in a news release. “It has always been the department’s goal to increase public awareness and build community rapport through education and conversation.
“The Hamden Citizen’s Academy will cover a vast array of interesting topics, including: patrol procedures, major crime investigations, forensic science/crime scene techniques, crime prevention, use of force, cultural awareness, ethics and integrity and a K-9 demonstration.”

Applications can be found here or at various town buildings, including: police headquarters, government center/town hall and local libraries. Applications can be submitted in-person, mail or emailed to Captain Ronald Smith at rsmith@hamdenpd.com or Sergeant Brent Zuscin at bzuscin@hamdenpd.com. The deadline for submitting an application is Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. Classes, which will be held on Wednesdays, begin on Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hamden Police Department Training Division. Refreshments will be served.
