Convenience Store Robbed At Knifepoint: Hamden Police
A man displayed a large knife and shoved the clerk before leaving the store, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — A convenience store was robbed at knifepoint early Monday morning in Hamden, according to police.
The robbery happened at Sam’s Food Store, 3394 Whitney Ave., around 2:15 a.m., according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
A man entered the store and asked to use the bathroom. He then went behind the front counter and grabbed five packs of Newport cigarettes, according to Smith.

Smith said the clerk confronted the man, who then showed a large knife and demanded money from the cash register.
The clerk refused and the man then shoved the clerk and left the store, according to Smith. He was last seen in a vehicle heading south on Whitney Avenue.

The robber was described as a white man, around 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall who was wearing dark clothing.
