UPDATE: (From the Regional Water Authority): “RWA crews are continuing to flush neighborhoods in southern Hamden to clear temporarily discolored water. Field reports continue to indicate that conditions are improving. Our mobile water wagon is stationed at the Whitney Water Center on 945 Whitney Avenue in Hamden for impacted customers in need of water and will remain there until 7 pm. Our Customer Call Center will remain open until 8 pm to handle any customer concerns.

"We believe today’s pockets of temporarily discolored water was the result of turning on the Armory Street Pump Station for the first time since last Friday’s water main repair on Armory Street."

HAMDEN, CT — In an update, the Regional Water Authority says the source of the discoloration is the “naturally occurring minerals in the water that settle to the bottom of a pipe and get shaken up by a change in flows or direction.”
