Distracting Driving Enforcement Results Announced In Hamden
Hamden Police announce the results of the latest distracted driving campaign targeting motorists who text and drive.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department issued more than 700 infractions during the first part of its 2018 campaign, in conjunction with the state Department of Transportation, against distracted driving. Hamden Police conducted enforcement between April 4 and April 26. Officers were stationed at various locations, including Dixwell Avenue, Mix Avenue, Whitney Avenue and State Street, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
The results of the enforcement campaign are as follows:
702 infractions were issued for cellular telephone use/distracted driving

5 infractions were issued for other motor vehicle violations
Police also issued three misdemeanor summonses for various motor vehicle violations. Officers also arrested one person on the strength of an arrest warrant, according to Smith.

“Once again, Hamden Police urge motorists to park in a safe location before using their cellphone,” Smith said.
