Distracting Driving Enforcement Results Announced In Hamden
Hamden Police announce the results of the latest distracted driving campaign targeting motorists who text and drive.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department issued more than 630 infractions during the second part of its 2018 campaign, held in conjunction with the state Department of Transportation, against distracted driving. Hamden Police conducted enforcement between Aug. 1 and Aug. 15. Officers were stationed at various locations, including Dixwell Avenue and Whitney Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
The results of the enforcement campaign are as follows:
635 infractions (tickets) were issued for cell phone use/distracted driving

11 infractions (tickets) were issued for other motor vehicle violations
6 misdemeanor summonses, which require a court appearance, were issued for various motor vehicle violations.

“Hamden Police urge motorists to park in a safe location before using their cell phone,” Smith said.
