Distracting Driving Enforcement Results Announced In Hamden

Hamden Police announce the results of the latest distracted driving campaign targeting motorists who text and drive.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department issued more than 640 infractions during its recent campaign, held in conjunction with the state Department of Transportation, against distracted driving. Hamden Police conducted enforcement between April 2 and April 25. Officers were stationed at various locations, including Dixwell Avenue and Whitney Avenue.

The results of the enforcement campaign are as follows:

  • 647 infractions (tickets) were issued for cell phone use/distracted driving
  • 9 infractions (tickets) were issued for other motor vehicle violations
  • 4 misdemeanor summonses, which require a court appearance, were issued for “Operating a Motor Vehicle under Suspension.”

“The Hamden Police Department, once again, urges motorists to park in a safe location, prior to using their cell phone,” Capt. Ronald Smith said.
