Driver Arrested After Pursuit, Crash: Hamden Police
Police say the driver of a vehicle matching the description of one connected with a shooting in New Haven failed to stop for an officer.
HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man was arrested after police say he failed to stop for an officer and then ran away from a crash Sunday afternoon in Hamden. At around 1:45 p.m. on March 29, Hamden police were notified of a shooting that took place in New Haven and were given a description of the vehicle involved, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
A Hamden officer saw a vehicle that fit the description traveling on Skiff Street and tried to conduct a motor vehicle stop, according to Smith. The driver didn’t comply and the vehicle eventually stopped, after striking a utility pole guide wire on Sandquist Circle, Smith said.
The driver of the vehicle, Marquis Mcduffie, was arrested after a foot chase, according to Smith. An occupant of the vehicle, Jisela Villanueva was also arrested.

Mcduffie, 34, of New Haven, was charged with interfering with a police officer, reckless driving and engaging an officer in pursuit. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 18. Villanueva, 20, of Middletown, was arrested on the strength of multiple warrants originating from New Haven, according to Smith.
