Driver Arrested After Woman Stole From Kohl’s: Hamden Police
Police are asking for help with identifying the woman. The driver, who returned to Kohl's, was wanted on a warrant, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — Police are asking for help with identifying a woman who is accused of stealing more than $180 worth of items from Kohl’s in Hamden. Police responded to the Kohl’s, located at 2380 Dixwell Avenue, on March 25 on the report of shoplifting, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that a Hispanic female, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall with a medium build, dark hair, wearing a dark coat, stole several “fragrance items.” The stolen merchandise was valued at $182, according to Smith.
The woman left the store and entered a Jeep that was operated by Jose Irizarry. Smith said Irizarry, who was unaware of the theft, was paid by the woman to drive her to Kohl’s. The vehicle subsequently fled southbound on Dixwell Avenue.

Moments later, Irizarry returned to Kohl’s. Smith said further investigation revealed that he was wanted on an arrest warrant originating out of New Haven. In addition, Hamden Police arrested him on charges of interfering with a police officer and criminal impersonation. Irizarry, 42, of East Haven, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 9.
