Employee, 19, Pistol-Whipped During Armed Robbery: Hamden Police
A 19-year-old employee was pistol-whipped and held at gunpoint shortly after closing a gas station in Hamden, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Citgo Gas Station in which a 19-year-old employee was pistol-whipped and held at gunpoint shortly after closing the store on Saturday night, according to police. At about 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 9, police responded to the Citgo, located at 1978 State Street, on the report of an armed robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that a store employee, a 19-year-old Hamden resident, was walking home after closing the gas station when he was approached by an individual that was brandishing a gun. The individual “stuck” the gun against his stomach and demanded money, according to Smith.
The suspect then “pistol-whipped” the victim, striking him on the top of the head. The victim was held at gunpoint and ordered to walk back to the gas station, Smith said. Once there, the victim was forced to open the cash register and remove the contents. The suspect then ran away toward Franklin Road, according to Smith.

Sgt. Jason Venditto and his K-9 partner “Knight” conducted a track that led to the area of Franklin Road. The suspect is described as a black male, 40 years of age, 5-feet, 9-inches to 6-feet tall, wearing dark clothing.
