Employee Embezzled $80K From Car Dealership: Hamden Police

Police say the car dealership's finance manager stole about $80,000 from the business.

HAMDEN, CT — A Bridgeport man is accused of embezzling about $80,000 from Partyka Chevrolet in Hamden while he was working as the dealership’s finance manager. An investigation was launched on Nov. 7, 2017, after officials at the dealership, located at 200 Skiff Street, reported the embezzlement to police, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that Finance Manager Jevene Wright stole approximately $80,000 from the car dealership.

“Customers provided Wright with cash or personal checks to make purchases,” Smith wrote in a press release. “Wright instructed customers to leave the ‘pay to the order’ portion of their checks blank. He would then ‘fill in his name’ and deposit the proceeds into his personal bank account.”
