Fairfield American Rallies Past Hamden in Division I Tournament Opener

Hamden, the District IV Little League champs, will be back in action on Friday.

After scoring 17 runs in the District IV title game, the Hamden Little League team broke out the bats early in Wednesday night’s Division I state tournament opener against Fairfield American.

Hamden jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the strength of a three-run home run by Alex Ponzio in the top of the first and a solo blast by Tanner Belcher in the third.

However, Richie Kerstetter’s pitching and hitting helped lead the Fairfield American Little League team to a 7-4 comeback victory at McGuane Park in Darien.
