Farmers Market Canceled In Hamden For Thursday
Officials announce that the Hamden Farmers Market has been canceled for Sept. 6.

HAMDEN, CT — With a chance of thunderstorms in the forecast and excessive heat, the Hamden Farmers Market for Thursday, Sept. 6, has been canceled.
“We've taken a close look at the weather predictions for this afternoon, and after consultation with our core Vendors and other Town officials we've made the call to cancel this afternoon's Market,” according to a post on the Hamden Town Center Park Facebook page. “Unfortunately, the ongoing excessive heat (think of the veggies too!) and the prediction of scattered thunderstorms creates a potentially hazardous scenario for both our attendees and our Vendors. Safety is our top priority!
“While we are sad to cancel this week, we're really looking forward to firing up next week with more vendors, live music from the Marketeers, and special activities for families and kids :) See you next week!” To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.

More than 20 vendors, community groups and organizations will be joining the market throughout the season. The market will have a variety of food trucks and food vendors with items such as locally grown produce, prepared foods, and baked goods. There will also be plenty of stations that provide extras such as free children's activities, handmade products, as well as local crafts. Hamden Youth Services will also be onsite and will host an awesome array of arts and crafts projects for kids. Each Market will also feature the special musical talent of a local band or performance artist.
"The Farmer's Market has become an institution in the Town of Hamden," Mayor Curt Balzano Leng said. "It provides our residents with access to fresh local produce and a place to meet their neighbors and support local business. We are excited to carry on Hamden's summer traditions and continue to build a sense of community amongst our residents."
