First Niagara Bank Robbed in Hamden (Updated)
The incident occurred Friday, police have released photos of a suspect.
Hamden police are searching for the suspect who robbed the First Niagara Bank, located at 1246 Whitney Avenue, Friday afternoon.
Police responded to the scene at 2:46 p.m. and investigation revealed that an individual entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.
Smith said the note further indicated that he was in the possession of a firearm. The individual subsequently fled in a southerly direction, with an undisclosed amount of money. Further investigation revealed that no firearm was displayed and that no one was injured, according to Smith.

The individual responsible for the bank robbery is described as a dark-skinned black male in his early 20s with a thin build. He was wearing dark clothing, which included a jacket and a hooded-sweatshirt. The sleeves on the jacket and/or hooded sweatshirt appeared to have a black and white “zebra-like” pattern. He was also wearing a lime green traffic vest with reflective striping and dark-colored “Nike” brand sneakers.
