Gas Station Robbed At Gunpoint In Hamden: Police

The gunman "jumped over the counter" during the robbery, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Shell gas station early Saturday morning in which the suspect “jumped over the counter” and stole an undisclosed amount of money and two packs of cigarettes, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. The robbery took place at about 6 a.m. on Jan. 13 at the Shell, located at 3050 Whitney Avenue in Hamden.

Smith said investigation revealed that an individual, described as a male with a “Spanish accent” and wearing a gray shirt entered the store wielding a firearm. The individual “jumped over the counter,” while demanding money from the cash register, according to Smith.

The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and two packs of cigarettes and fled on foot toward Home Place. He was last seen inside of a “small, dark-colored sedan,” southbound on Whitney Avenue, according to Smith.
