Hamden Cadette Girl Scout Troop 60110 volunteered at the CT Food Bank, Wallingford distribution center on Monday, November 12,2018. The girls sorted 4,200 pounds of frozen meat that was donated by the Big Y. All donated food must be sorted carefully and checked for expiration dates and other product damaged before it can be distributed to the food banks, food pantries and soup kitchens. More than 300,000 people in the counties that the CT Food Bank services are food insecure and nearly 100,000 are children who are struggling with hunger.
