Hamden Brownie Troop 60444 went to the Brownie Stem Design Challenge on Saturday, February 8,2020. The event was hosted by Durham-Middlefield Troop 62092 that included Juniors and Cadettes, Girl Scouts that are in the fourth through sixth grade. Troop 62092 planned the entire meeting, facilitated and assisted the Brownies, who are second and third grade girls.

During the afternoon, Brownies earned their Leap bot and Fling Flyer mechanical engineering badges. The Girls earned their Leap bot badge by learning about engineering, gravity, and force by building and testing a Leap bot. The Girls earned their Fling Flyer badge by learning about forces that affect flight.

The Brownies were able to go to the Stem event with funds that they have raised through the Girl Scout cookie program. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the leading entrepreneurial program for Girls. Selling Girl Scout cookies helps the Girls to learn how to set a goal, work with a budget and gain confidence.
