The Brownies hand-made Valentine’s Day Cards for dogs, which included tips to keep dogs safe during Valentine’s Day. These tips reminded dog owners that chocolate is deadly to dogs, as are many flowers and plants. Dog owners were also reminded to keep their pets safe from other hazards: Balloons could be dangerous if ingested; xylitol and other artificial sweeteners are also considered harmful to pets; and pets should be supervised around candles to avoid fire. Pet Poison Control Numbers were also included: ASPCA Animal Poison Control Number: (888) 426-4435; Pet Poison Hotline Number: (855) 764-7661.
The Troop also made handmade peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats that were included with the Valentines. The Valentines were delivered to The Barking Lot Doggie Daycare and Kennel, 940 Sherman Road, Hamden, CT.
