Hamden Announces Warming Center Locations for Severe Cold Conditions

Locations made available for those struggling with extreme cold.

From Town Hall

Due to the extreme cold weather forecast, Mayor Scott Jackson wishes to remind residents that public buildings are available as warming centers, both during business hours and after-hours, in cases of need. This follows the State of Connecticut’s Severe Weather Protocol, which was activated Tuesday by the Governor.

During daytime business hours, Town buildings will be available as “Warming Centers” (locations and addresses listed below). After-hours, the Hamden Police Department and all Hamden Fire Stations are available in the case of need based on the extreme cold (locations and addresses listed below).

Citizens in need and those without housing are also encouraged to dial 2-1-1, where several State Departments are “to coordinate with 2-1-1 and Connecticut’s network of shelters to ensure that the state’s most vulnerable populations are protected from the severe cold weather,” according to a press release sent out by the Governor’s Office today. As always, in any emergency situation, please dial 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.

Residents with shelter who have emergency need of fuel should contact the Hamden Community Services Department at (203) 562-5129 for assistance.
