Hamden Bank Robber Sentenced

He robbed a bank and a U.S. Post Office on the same day.

HAMDEN, CT — A man who robbed a Hamden bank and West Haven post office was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. Malcom Haynes, 26, aka "Black" of New Haven robbed the Wells Fargo Bank and Allingtown Post Office on April 21, 2016.

He previously pleaded guilty.

Haynes, Derrick White and Howard Bookert along with another man drove in White's vehicle to the post office, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut. Haynes robbed the Post Office at gunpoint using a .22 caliber rifle.

The four then drove to Wells Fargo in the afternoon and again Haynes used a rifle as part of the robbery.

Haynes was arrested in May. White and Bookert, both of Hamden previously pleaded guilty and await sentencing. The fourth male was charged by the state.
