Hamden Coronavirus Update: Leng Launches Virtual Town Hall Series
Hamden Mayor Curt Leng is launching a weekly virtual Town Hall-style series to communicate with residents regarding coronavirus updates.
HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Mayor Curt Balzano Leng announces he will host a weekly virtual Town Hall-style meeting on Wednesdays. In the new public engagement initiative, called “Weekly Wednesdays,” Leng will give updates to the community in a live video conference. Leng will also be available to answer questions during the “virtual meetings” but the primary focus will be providing information to residents.
Leng had been considering the initiative for a while and the response to his impromptu and well-received Facebook Live sessions regarding the new coronavirus pandemic has brought it to fruition. (To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Weekly Wednesdays will take place each Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Facebook Live unless otherwise noted. The virtual sessions will be broadcast through Mayor Leng’s and the Town of Hamden Facebook pages. Residents are encouraged to tune in live, or to visit the pages afterward to watch the posted video archive. The town is exploring options to expand the reach of these Virtual Town Hall-style meetings to encompass other forms of media and social networks, according to Leng.

“Now more than ever we need reliable and accurate information – and we need it regularly,” Leng said. “I plan to speak live with our residents every week in an effort to ensure this information is received. Please, inform your friends and family that these weekly updates will be occurring, and encourage them to tune in for the most up to date information on not only what’s happening in Hamden, but most importantly right now – what Hamden is doing to combat COVID-19 and what YOU can do to help. Thank you.”
