Hamden Election 2016 Results: Winners Declared in State Representative, Senate Races

Before you head into the voting booth on Election Day, here's information on all the candidates, polling places and more.

HAMDEN, CT — Democrat Josh Elliott has defeated Republican Legislative Councilwoman Marjorie Bonadies for state representative in the 88th District, according to the New Haven Register.

Elliott, an attorney and small business owner, challenged and defeated Legislative Council President James Pascarella in a primary election in August. Elliott will fill the seat vacated by Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey, who announced in May that he wouldn’t seek re-election and would retire from the state legislature.

The Register also reports that Democratic incumbent Michael D’Agostino earned a third term in the 91st District with a win over Republican challenger James Lynch.

Longtime Democratic incumbent State Senator Joseph Crisco was ousted from his District 17 seat, losing to Republican candidate George Logan, the Register reports.


HAMDEN, CT — Hamden residents will head to the polls on Nov. 8 for the 2016 midterm election. Polling places in Hamden will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. On the ballot, registered voters in Hamden will be able to select candidates for president and vice president, United States senator, representatives to U.S. Congress, state senator, and state representative.

In Hamden, 12-term Democratic incumbent Martin Looney is running unopposed for the 11th Senatorial District.

The choice for the 17th Senatorial District involves Democratic candidate Joseph Crisco and Republican candidate George Logan. Crisco is completing his 12th term. Logan, of Ansonia, is the director of environmental management and government relations at Aquarion Water Company.

In the 88th State House District, Democrat Josh Elliott is facing Republican Legislative Councilwoman Marjorie Bonadies for the seat vacated by Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey, who announced in May that he wouldn’t seek re-election and would retire from the state legislature.

Elliott, an attorney and small business owner, challenged and defeated Legislative Council President James Pascarella in a primary election in August. Bonadies, R-9, serves as minority leader on the Legislative Council.

In the 94th State House District, Democratic incumbent Robyn Porter is running unopposed.

For the 91st State House District, Democratic incumbent Michael D’Agostino faces Republican James Lynch. Prior to his election to the General Assembly, D’Agostino served as a member of the Hamden Board of Education and was elected chairperson in 2005.

Lynch, a volunteer firefighter, looks to restore fiscal responsibility to state government.

The candidates for president and vice president are Republicans Donald Trump and Mike Pence, Democrats Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, Libertarians Gary Johnson and Bill Weld, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka.

For United States Senate the candidates are Richard Blumenthal, Democrat, Dan Carter, Republican, Richard Lion, Libertarian, and Jeffrey Russell, Green Party.

For United States Congress the choice is between Democratic incumbent Rosa DeLauro and Angel Cadena, a Republican.
