HAMDEN, CT — Firefighters extinguished a house fire on Lynmot Road Friday morning. There were no injuries reported in the blaze.
Firefighters responded to the home shortly after 8:30 a.m. on the report of a bathroom ceiling fan on fire.
There was a light smoke condition in the home, and the fan was removed from the ceiling, according to Deputy Chief Gary Merwede.

“It was quickly determined that the fire had extended and was travelling in the joist bays above the bathroom and kitchen, and threatening the exterior walls of the home and an old addition leading to the attic,” Merwede said in a press release. “Additional fire companies overhauled these areas to find and extinguish the hidden fire.”
United Illuminating was called to the scene to cut power at the utility pole so firefighters working around the power supply weather-head would not be placed at additional risk. The fire was declared under control at 9:02 a.m., according to Merwede.

No injuries were reported at this incident, however, the family of six residing at the address will need to be relocated until the power is restored and repairs are made, Merwede said. The Red Cross is providing assistance to the family.
Deputy Fire Marshal Timothy Lunn is investigating this fire and the area of origin at or immediately adjacent to the bathroom ceiling fan.
