Hamden Library Book Discussion Title Announced

The Hamden Book Group will discuss a new novel on July 30th at 6:30 p.m.

HAMDEN, CT - From Hamden Library: Hamden Book Group will discuss The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson on Monday, July 30 at 6:30 pm. Meetings will be held in the Friends Room of the Miller Memorial Library, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden 06518.

In his October 15, 2006 review of the book for the New York Times Sunday Book Review, Jay Jennings writes,
“Bryson has produced a book so outlandishly and improbably entertaining, you begin to doubt its veracity.
When he writes, for example, that the worst customer to collect money from on his paper route when he was 11, Mrs. Vandermeister, was “700 years old, possibly 800, and permanently attached to an aluminum walker,” you begin to wonder if we’re entering James Frey territory. ”

There is no fee for the program, and the public is welcome to attend. Copies of the book are available at the
library. For more information please call 203-287-2680 or visit the library’s website at hamdenlibrary.org.
