Hamden Man Killed In New Haven Shooting: Police
The man was shot Monday afternoon in New Haven, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man was killed in a shooting Monday afternoon in New Haven, according to police.
The shooting happened around 2:15 p.m. in the area of Dixwell Avenue between Elizabeth Street and Cherry Ann Street, according to New Haven police.
Shortly after the gunfire, a victim arrived at Yale-New Haven Hospital in a private vehicle. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Marquis Winfrey of Hamden, was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police are also investigating two non-fatal shootings that happened over the weekend in New Haven. Both victims are expected to recover from their injuries, according to police.

In the first incident, a 20-year-old New Haven man sustained a “graze gunshot wound” to the arm in a shooting on Harding Place between Dixwell Avenue and Sherman Parkway around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, police said.
In another incident on Saturday, police said a 42-year-old Fair Haven resident was shot in the abdomen outside his Rowe Street home between Grafton Street and Chatham Street around 9:20 p.m.
Police said there are no indications the incidents are related. Detectives ask anyone with information to contact the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6304.
