Hamden Man Shot Twice in Leg, Robbed on Pine Rock Avenue

Police are investigating the shooting that occurred late Tuesday night.

A 25-year-old Hamden resident was shot twice in the leg after being robbed on Pine Rock Avenue late Tuesday night.

Police responded to the 500 block of Pine Rock Avenue around 11 p.m. on April 28 and arriving officers found the man with a gunshot wound to his leg, Police Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

The victim told police that while he was walking on the street he was approached by a man who pointed a handgun at him and demanded his belongings.

The man then stole the victim’s backpack, which contained electronic equipment.

The victim promptly fled on foot, at which time he was shot twice in the leg, according to Smith.

Hamden Fire Rescue rendered medical assistance at the scene and the victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5-feet, 10-inches tall, and was wearing a gray-colored hooded sweatshirt.
