Hamden Man Struck And Killed While Riding Mobility Scooter
A 74-year-old Hamden man was killed while trying to cross the street in front of the Miller Memorial Library.
HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man was struck and killed Sunday while riding his mobility scooter outside the Miller Memorial Library.
Robert Sheard, 74, was ejected from his scooter when he was struck by a vehicle as he crossed Dixwell Avenue outside of a crosswalk in front of the library, according to NBC Connecticut. The crash happened at about 1 p.m. Sunday. According to NBC, an off-duty Connecticut State Police trooper rendered aid, but Sheard died shortly after at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
No arrests were made in the crash, which remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at (475) 201-1201.
