Hamden Man Tries To Steal Car, Homeowner Startles Him: Orange PD

A police K-9 team helped track the accused down, police said.

ORANGE, CT — Police say a Hamden man is accused of trying to steal a car but the homeowner startled him and a police K-9 was able to help track him down, police said.

Officers responded to a house on Augusta Drive in regard to a report of a car burglary/attempted larceny of a vehicle complaint, police said. The residents heard noise coming from their driveway, and when they looked outside, they saw someone inside one of their vehicles, police said.

When the residents made their presence known, the person inside the car fled the area, police said. Arriving officers surrounded the area with the assistance of a Police K-9, leading the accused to surrender to officers shortly thereafter, police said.

Isa J. Hyatt, 21, of Hamden is charged with third-degree burglary, simple trespass and criminal attempt at third-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
