Hamden Names New Football Coach

Todd Dowty resigned last month after three years on the job.

Hamden didn’t have to look far for a new head football coach, especially when it had a state championship winning coach in the building.

Joe Morelli of the New Haven Register/GameTimeCT reports athletic director Tommy Dyer was appointed as Hamden High School’s new football coach on Tuesday morning.

Dyer, 37, who won two Class M championships with Hillhouse, will replace Todd Dowty, who resigned last month after three years at the helm. Dyer was Hillhouse’s head coach from 2007-2012 and compiled a 51-17 record, including the state titles in 2010 and 2012.
