Hamden PD Awarded Grant From Secret Service Financial Task Force

The grant will go toward upholding the ideals of the Secret Service Financial Crimes Task Force and combating financial crime.

Town of Hamden: Mayor Curt Balzano Leng and Acting Police Chief John Capiello are pleased to announce that the Hamden Police Department was recently awarded a grant from the United States Secret Service New Haven Resident Office CT Financial Crimes Task Force. The Secret Service’s investigative mission has evolved from enforcing counterfeit laws to safeguarding the payment and financial systems of the United States from a wide range of financial and computer-based crimes. To combat these crimes, the Secret Service has adopted a proactive approach, using advanced technologies and capitalizing on the power of task force partnerships.

The $2,000 grant for this project will go towards upholding the ideals of the Secret Service Financial Crimes Task Force and combatting financial crimes. The funds will be used to cover the costs of purchasing the following items: a laptop computer, wireless dock, card reader and other accessories to be used by Hamden officers in their efforts to protect our residents.

Commenting, Mayor Leng said, “I am proud of the fine work our Hamden Police accomplish, and I thank the Department and the Secret Service for their efforts to apply for and award these grant funds. These tools will greatly assist our officers as they work to keep Hamden safe!”
