Hamden Police Announce Results of Latest Distracted Driving Enforcement Campaign
The Hamden Police Department recently participated in the state DOT's Highway Safety Office's "U DRIVE U TEXT U PAY" campaign.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department issued 669 infractions for distracted driving during the recent “U DRIVE U TEXT U PAY” campaign.
The campaign was an effort to deter motorists who are distracted from the task of driving, by using their hand-held mobile telephone.
Hamden Police conducted the enforcement campaign between Aug. 3 and Aug. 16. Officers were stationed at various locations on Dixwell Avenue, Whitney Avenue, State Street and Mix Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

During the two-week time period, Hamden Police issued 669 infractions for distracted driving. In addition, four arrests were made for other motor vehicle violations and there were two criminal arrests, according to Smith.
